Born in Southeast Missouri, Ben Pierce was raised on the traditional values of honesty and hard work.  After graduating high school, Ben served 4 years in the U.S. Military which reinforced the values learned in is youth. Later he attended and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University with a Bachelors of Fine Arts.  Using a minimalist approach he builds sculptures that represent experiences or feelings he’s had, but that are universally identifiable. Influenced and inspired by nature and architecture Pierce constructs simple geometric forms to capture the viewer's interest and stir their emotions.  Negative space is a large aspect of Pierce's work that helps to create tension to capture and focus on space.
